*June 2017 - Private Enforcement: The Portuguese Supreme Court ruled in favour of Canadian multinational Cogeco, represented by Evelyne Ameye Legal Services and Miguel Sousa Ferro, in the Cogeco vs Sport TV Case, rejecting the admissibility of the extraordinary appeal filed by Sport TV. At the same time, the Lisbon Court of First Instance acknowledged that Cogeco won its access to documents battle concerning access to appeal judgments of the Portuguese competition authority. A Preliminary hearing of the Case took place in June 2017.

* January 2017 - Antitrust/Mergers: Upon instruction of WTI Advisors Ltd., Evelyne Ameye Legal Services carries out an in-depth analysis for DG TRADE of the European Commission on the state of play of Competition Law in each of the 6 Central-American countries that are part of the EU/Central-America Association Agreement, i.e. Costa Rica, Panama, Nicaragua, Honduras, El Salvador and Guatemala. The analysis involved multiple interviews with Competition Authorities, Ministries and other public and private stakeholders in Central America.

* March 2015 - Antitrust:  Spanish farmers thank Evelyne Ameye Legal Services for the success in the Milk Cartel Decision, whereby the Spanish Competition Authority imposed sanctions of €88 million on 9 dairy companies and 2 associations for market-sharing, price-fixing and quota manipulation between 2000 and 2013 to the detriment of farmers across Spain

* February 2015 - Private Enforcement: Evelyne Ameye Legal Services, in collaboration with Miguel Sousa Ferro of Eduardo Paz Ferreira & Associados, files a claim for antitrust damages in representation of the Canadian telecommunications and media group COGECO in the amount of € 11 million with the Portuguese civil courts against Sport TV, Controlinveste and NOS (ZON Optimus), following-on from the “Sport TV” Decision of the Portuguese Competition Authority (which became final on 11 March 2015). The case was followed by a collective damages claim against Sport TV in representation of over 3 million Portuguese pay-TV clients, making use of the permissive Portuguese law, which provides for “opt-out” representation (unless the consumer opts-out, he is included in the class action). This is a ground-breaking claim, making use, for the first time, of the possibility of class actions in private antitrust enforcement in Portugal. The Portuguese Competition Observatory is being represented by Miguel Sousa Ferro.
